BENCHEMAA ZONAL COUNCIL


Benchemaa Area Council is one of the key sub-structures of the Juaboso District Assembly, established to deepen local governance, enhance administrative efficiency, and bring decision-making closer to the people at the grassroots level. The Council plays an important role in facilitating development initiatives, coordinating community activities, and promoting participatory governance within its jurisdiction.The area is predominantly rural in nature, with agriculture serving as the main economic activity for most residents. In addition to farming, there are also small-scale mining activities that contribute to the local economy. These economic activities form the backbone of livelihoods in the area and continue to shape the development priorities of the Council.

The Zonal Council has Nine (9) Electoral areas namely:

The area serves an estimated population of about 5,211 according to the 2021 Population Census in Ghana. The Council operates under the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).
