Juaboso District Joins National “Tree for Life” Initiative to Promote Environmental Sustainability
The Juaboso District Assembly, in collaboration with the Forestry Commission of Ghana (Juaboso District), has actively participated in the nationwide “Tree for Life” initiative, a flagship environmental restoration programme launched by His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama.
The exercise took place behind the Juaboso Government Hospital, where stakeholders and community members gathered to support the national call for climate resilience, reforestation, and sustainable environmental stewardship.

The programme brought together key stakeholders, including the District Police Commander, traditional authorities, staff of the Juaboso District Assembly, the Forestry Commission, students, and members of the media.
Addressing participants, the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Godfred K.B. Banornumah, emphasized the urgent need for a collective shift in mindset toward environmental protection. He highlighted tree planting as a critical tool in combating climate change, preserving biodiversity, and ensuring a healthier ecosystem for future generations.

To symbolically launch the district’s participation, Mr. Banornumah planted the first tree, setting the tone for what is expected to be a sustained commitment to environmental conservation across the district.
Participants were also educated on the long-term benefits of tree planting, including improved air quality, soil conservation, and enhanced community well-being.
The “Tree for Life” initiative forms part of Ghana’s broader commitment to environmental sustainability, ecological restoration, and climate action, encouraging citizens to take active roles in safeguarding the natural environment.
The Juaboso District Assembly reaffirmed its dedication to supporting national environmental policies and called on all residents to actively participate in tree planting efforts to secure a greener and more sustainable future.
