Rural Projects ECG Begins Mapping Exercise to Extend Electricity to Unserved Communities in Juaboso
The Rural Projects Unit of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) on Tuesday, 18th August 2026, engaged the District Chief Executive for Juaboso, Hon. Alexander Adu-Quist, and various Assembly Members as part of a mapping exercise to identify communities and areas within the district that are yet to benefit from electricity access.
The exercise, being undertaken with the support of the Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, is aimed at collecting accurate geographical coordinates of underserved and unserved areas to facilitate future electricity extension works.
The ECG team is expected to undertake field assessments across selected communities over a two-day period. The exercise involves identifying the locations, taking precise coordinates and gathering the necessary information required for planning the extension of electricity infrastructure.
The data collected from the exercise will subsequently be processed and used to guide the deployment of electricity poles, lines and other essential ECG infrastructure to the identified areas.
On the first day, the team is scheduled to cover Juaboso, Antobia, Nkwanta, Boinzan, Proso/Kofikrom and Bonsu Nkwanta.
The second day will cover Agyemadiem, Domi, Sayeraso, Barrier, Benchemaa, Nkatieso, Sayerano, Nsinsem, Asempaneye, Bremang and Mafia.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Alexander Adu-Quist, commended the Rural Projects ECG team for undertaking the exercise and urged them to carry out the assignment efficiently and within the scheduled timeframe.
He noted that improved electricity access would contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the beneficiary communities by supporting households, businesses, education and other essential activities.
The exercise marks an important step towards identifying electricity gaps within the district and providing the technical information required for future power extension projects.
