Proso Traditional Leaders Pay Courtesy Visit to Juaboso DCE, Raise Key Community Development Concerns
The Chiefs and traditional leaders of Proso paid a courtesy visit to the District Chief Executive for Juaboso, Hon. Alexander Adu-Quist, on Monday, 17th August 2026, to express their appreciation for the ongoing construction of the Proso Market while drawing attention to other pressing development needs within the community.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the traditional leaders to acknowledge the Assembly’s efforts towards improving economic activity in Proso, particularly through the construction of the new market facility. They also used the occasion to appeal for support in addressing a number of challenges affecting the community, including electricity extension, sanitation, and educational infrastructure.
On education, the Chiefs raised concerns about the condition of some school buildings, particularly the need for repainting and general maintenance. In response, the DCE assured them that the Assembly would consider the request. He, however, encouraged the Proso Area Council and the community to take advantage of their local governance structure by strengthening revenue mobilisation within the area.
Hon. Adu-Quist explained that internally generated revenue at the local level could provide an additional avenue for addressing community needs. He encouraged the Area Council to utilise available revenue opportunities and allocate a portion of the proceeds towards maintaining facilities such as schools and other community infrastructure.
Sanitation also featured prominently in the discussions, with the traditional leaders raising concerns about the condition and capacity of the existing refuse disposal area, which has become inadequate and requires attention.
The DCE expressed appreciation to the Chiefs for the visit and the constructive engagement. He assured the traditional leaders of his commitment to working with them and other stakeholders to address the developmental needs of Proso and its surrounding communities.
The engagement reaffirmed the importance of collaboration between traditional authorities and the District Assembly in identifying community priorities, mobilising local resources, and advancing sustainable development within the district.
