Juaboso District Assembly Holds Second Quarter DPCU Meeting
The Juaboso District Assembly on 21nd July 2026 held its Second Quarter District Planning and Coordinating Unit (DPCU) Meeting in line with the provisions of the Local Governance framework to review departmental performance and assess development progress across the district.
The meeting was chaired by the District Coordinating Director, PLN. Godfred K.B. Banornumah, and attended by the District Planning Officer, Mr. Eric Oppong, Heads of Departments, and representatives from key sectors including Health, Agriculture, Community Health Education Division (CHED), Forestry, Education, NGOs, and other stakeholders.
The DPCU serves as a technical and advisory body responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating the implementation of development plans and programmes within the district. It also provides a platform for departments to present progress reports and address challenges affecting service delivery.
During the meeting, the minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed, corrected, and adopted with the necessary amendments.
Various departments presented their performance reports for the second quarter of 2026. The Health Directorate highlighted key activities including vaccination exercises, public sensitization programmes, and awareness campaigns. Data on mortality rates, childbirth, and overall service delivery performance were also presented.
The Forestry Department reported on the extent of forest depletion, areas cultivated, and the number of trees felled, while outlining challenges affecting forest conservation efforts within the district.
The Education Directorate presented on its interventions, including the distribution of sanitary pads to schoolgirls and the provision of school uniforms, as well as challenges impacting the education sector.
The Agriculture Department raised concerns regarding inadequate funding, which continues to hinder the effective implementation of planned activities. Similarly, the Community Health Education Division (CHED) outlined its support to farmers, particularly cocoa farmers, through the provision of fertilizers and gang sprayers to enhance productivity.
At the end of the session, the Planning Unit, led by Mr. Eric Oppong, presented an overview of ongoing projects within the district. It was noted that some projects captured in the 2026 Annual Action Plan (AAP) may be deferred due to funding constraints. Additionally, new priority projects not originally included in the AAP have been introduced to address emerging needs, including market relocation initiatives and related interventions.
Members engaged in discussions, raised concerns, and proposed solutions to address identified challenges. The meeting concluded with a call by the District Coordinating Director for all departments and units to strengthen collaboration and work collectively towards improving service delivery and achieving better development outcomes for the people of Juaboso District.
